Preserving the native vegetation in the Texas prairie

The Blackland Prairie Chapter Master Naturalists maintain the cemetery, which has been relatively untouched since 1847. The Texas Master Naturalist Program aims to develop well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service for the beneficial management of natural resources and areas within Texas communities. Less that 1% now remains of the original native prairies, making them one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world
